Hey, hope you had a great weekend!

Ash Wednesday
Today in R.E we talked about Ash Wednesday - that the ashes are made from palms from palm Sunday and that they are used to make a sign of the cross on our foreheads.

We talked about Ash Wednesday being the beginning of lent, the time leading up to Easter.

Ash Wednesday mass is this Wednesday at 9.15am (please wear full school uniform)

PMP
The following children are having their turn at the PMP programme this term:
Matthew
Elijah
Katelyn
Jay

You should have received an email today outlining what this is. It is a programme based on eye/hand coordination and eye/foot coordination, it includes fitness, balance and eye tracking activities. All children complete this programme within their first year at school.

Browsing box books tonight for reading
Today we had values assembly so we didn't have reading groups today - the children chose a book from their browsing box to bring home

Writing challenge this week
Write a list of all your favourite foods (remember that they don't have to be spelt correctly - try your best to sound them out)

Parent help request
At the parent evening last week I mentioned about parent help. A few parents have mentioned to me that they will be able to help out this term - thanks very much!
If anyone else is able to help as a one off or weekly please mention to me before or after school or send an email. Thank you!

Reminder
Thanks to the parents who have already sent in/emailed a photo of your child with their favourite toy. We will be doing this activity in class on Wednesday so would be great to have your photos by then.

Monday 2 February 2015

First day in year 1

We have had a great day in Room 11!

We started the day with prayers, shared about our holidays, wrote a story as a class and then went outside for a game of cat and mouse.

After morning tea we had a whole school welcome back assembly, we played with the parachute outside and read a story under the trees.

After lunch the class really enjoyed reading stories and completing their all about me activities.

Tomorrow is PE day so you won't need to send along school uniforms.

See you tomorrow,
Mrs Carroll :)
