Term 1 newsletter

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Rebekah Carroll and I will be your child’s teacher this year.
I look forward to meeting you all over the next few weeks.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to pop in and see me or send an email.
The blog and email will be my main forms of communication so please check the blog regularly.
Here is an overview of what we will be learning about this term:
Maths—This term in weeks 1-7 we will be working on our number knowledge and
addition/subtraction. We will begin a measurement unit based on length in week
8.
Writing- We are beginning the term
by learning the basics of how to write - what is in a sentence, when to use a capital
letter and full stop as well as writing recounts.
Religious Education: This week
we are learning about prayer – that prayer is talking to God. Later in
the term we will be learning about Jesus and then Holy week as we approach Easter.
PE: We are beginning the term
with a striking and fielding unit, to tie in with the cricket world cup. PE
will be every Tuesday.
Art: This term we will be focusing on the skill of drawing.
Topic: This week we are learning
about each other, the classroom and friendship. In week 2 we will begin
learning about internet safety and later in the term we will be learning about
ANZAC.

We will be having show and tell each Friday, please remind your child to bring one thing from home that they would like to share.

Stationery
Please send along the extra stationery that you purchased from the list, I store this away and top up the children’s pencil cases throughout the year when necessary.
